| Azza gives a high energy, fun class filled with lots of personal attention, beautiful movements, choreography and clear explanations of technique. Because a large part of her training was performing on stage to live music, Azza can impart a real understanding and feel for the Arabic and Turkish music, which is what makes this dance so unique and gives the performer a really authentic yet personal feel to her dance. One of the highest trained and most experienced dancers in the city, whatever you want to learn, she can help you with.
Azza also provides oportunity for her students to perform, if they like, at shows in restaurants, nightclubs and on stage.

You may wear whatever you are comfortable with. However, Azza would prefer that you wear stretch pants and a either a crop top or tight, stretchy shirt, so she can see the movements of your torso, hips and knees. Hip scarves are a good idea, but not necessary.
Feet: If you are just checking out the Djoniba's classes, please bring dance shoes or socks.
If you intend to pursue your dance at Djoniba, Azza recommends purchasing "Half Sole Sandasol", "Foot Undeez" (from Capezio), footwear such as Dance Paws
(www.dancepaws.com), or some kind of flat flexible low-heeled dance shoe that provides a barrier between the ball of your foot and the floor, to facilitate pivoting and turning. These items can be purchases at Capezio's www.capeziostore.com or Sanshas, a bit less costly than Capezios, (try Diva or Prima), www.sansha.com as well as many other dance stores around the city.
Intermediates: Please bring zils.
Azza also sells hip scarves, zils, and costumes. Email her in advance if you would like her to bring them to class. azza_amon@yahoo.com
She is also available for private coaching. You can contact her at azza_amon@yahoo.com, or 646 456-4406. |
